My passion for teaching comes from the fact that I learned so much from teachers along my way. Knowledge is power and it transformed me in many ways. I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds and hundreds of students for the last 18 years and see them improve. I love to see students empowered, realize their own potential and master challenges that they never thought possible before.
I specialize in tutoring for German
on every level. I work with total beginners up to college level.
I moved here 4 years ago from Vienna, and have taught at the Chazen Institute at Columbia University, the Dwight International School and the ABC Language
My youngest student was a kid age 3, and my oldest had retired 10 years earlier.
At the moment I mostly teach private clients, I like to work for myself. I still teach a few classes in the above mentioned Institutes.
I like to keep the student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I assign homework and also provide periodic assessment. I believe in individualizing classes, so I really pick a student up exactly where they are and work with them from there. It is important for me to work on the passive and active knowledge of my student at the same time. And I often realize that even confident people are very shy in talking in a foreign language
when they are not totally sure of mastering it.
I hold myself to a high standard. That's why I often ask for feedback, and I never bill for a lesson in which the student of parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring. I try to be flexible with my time. While I do have a 24-h-cancellation policy, I offer makeup classes. To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable study space in which to work with me, I have a tutoring office in the UWS. However, I am happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient for the student.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!
