I am a current senior at Columbia University studying Earth and Environmental Science and Political Science--so I have a very varied background that allows me to tutor a lot of subjects.

I have been tutoring Spanish, writing, math, sciences, and more since I was in high school and have worked with students with ages ranging from the middle school level to college level. I have also worked with younger students in reading, writing, and basic math as a classroom Teaching Assistant and student helper.

For me, the best way to approach tutoring is to make the subject both relatable and easy to understand and this is achievable by getting to know each student individually and really understand what their difficulties are and put the subject in terms of their interests and hobbies. My hope is to make the subject more interesting and help each client learn in the process.

English

I am currently completing my degree at Columbia University in Political Science and Earth and Environmental Science. I have tutored writing to middle school, high school, and university students for the past eight years. I also proofread essays and other writing materials for university and high school students. I have worked with eighth grade and high school students preparing for the SAT and ACT vocabulary, writing, and reading comprehension questions.

Study Skills

I teach students how to study which is just as important as learning the subject matter itself. I have numerous successful study techniques and strategies that I teach my students and use myself in my coursework. I help students become more organized and alert during work, helping them have better time management and material retention.

Wonderful Tutor and Very Patient Amanda is very patient, organized and knowledgeable in Algebra. For the short period she was tutoring my son I did see a change. It's unfortunate we will not be able to continue our sessions due to a time conflict but nevertheless we felt the need to leave an honest review. ...
