I find teaching to be the most rewarding profession and sincerely look forward to helping many more students succeed. As a young child, I was inspired by my own teachers who showed me that learning was a fun, creative experience that incorporates multiple modalities. I formed close relationships with my teachers and looked up to them as role models who really cared about me. I have incorporated my beliefs as a young student into my teaching practice as an elementary school teacher for the past seven years.

I am a New York State certified teacher in grades 1-6 as well as a New York State School Building Leader from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I recently completed my second masters degree in Educational Leadership and Administration in order to make an even larger impact upon students' lives.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

I completed 6 Fine Arts courses including Figure Drawing 1 and 2, Mural Art, Drawing 1, Painting 1, and Painting 2 at the University of Pennsylvania. I also completed Figure Drawing and Painting at the School of Visual Arts in New York. I studied Figure in the Landscape and Still Life from a Different Perspective at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

I taught an enrichment cluster in drawing and painting for 3 years to elementary school children. I also took a Teaching Art course for Elementary Educators at Hunter College as part of my master's degree in Education that I completed in 2008.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been a New York City public school teacher for the past 6 years. I have taught 5th grade for all of those years, including an honors class for 2 years and an Integrated Co-Teaching class with Special Education and English Language Learners.
