I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Baruch College, a member college of the City University of New York. I also received a minor in History and a minor in Math. As an undergraduate, I tutored students in the subjects of Financial Accounting and Cost Accounting for one of my professors. To ensure that my students mastered the concepts to be learned, I stylized my approach similarly to a traditional classroom experience: working through example problems together with the student, reviewing the student’s homework, and administering quizzes at the end of the tutoring session. While earning my Juris Doctor from New York Law School, I was a teaching assistant for a Contract Law course. I was assigned to help a number of students in mastering the more difficult concepts of the class. We met weekly to review course homework. I also made outside lessons for them as additional resources toward furthering the goal of their mastering the concepts taught in the class. Several months after graduation, I passed the New York State Bar Exam on my first attempt.

I believe that my role as a tutor is to provide expertise, experience, and encouragement to the students with whom I am tutoring. I do not follow the model of just giving the students the correct answers. I find it most beneficial to start by reviewing example problems that address the concepts that the students find troubling. Mastery of the core concepts is my highest priority. During my initial meeting with a student, I clearly outline the expectations I have for the student. We then together develop guidelines, rules, and a schedule to follow, as strictly as is possible, throughout the tutoring period. My love of teaching is most strengthened by seeing students grasp important concepts that previously baffled them, as they progress toward mastery of the subjects for which I have been entrusted to tutor the student.
