Hello, my name is Christopher. Teaching is in my DNA; my mother taught English
as a foreign language
, my father trained graduate trainees at work and I have mentored analysts and educated clients in finance
throughout my career. I was educated in England at some of the finest and traditional schools by inspiring teachers and I have an Honors degree in English and European Literature
. My passion is to pass on their lessons, and my own learned as a copywriter and as a financial communications specialist to enable you to achieve success at school and enjoyment from reading
I tutor English comprehension, literature, creative writing
, and critical analysis in preparation for exams and to increase your literary appreciation and analytical skills. I like to work from set texts, much like you would expect in an exam, because these reveal a variety of styles and forms that we can analyze together to enable you to master the concepts that make a narrative. I aim to give you a framework that will enable you to analyze any piece of literature, or if you plan to write, that will remove any fears of looking at a blank sheet of paper (I know that's bold!). In addition, I have extensive knowledge of global financial markets and world affairs which I tutor in preparation for interviews and for general knowledge. I am an expert in Microsoft Office: Excel
, Word, and Powerpoint
and can teach you or help you with your presentations. I love sports, I play squash competitively, played rugby, cricket, and tennis
for my school, and I swim
to keep fit.
I try to be flexible when I tutor to match every individual's own pace of learning. I will give you continual feedback on your progress and I ask for your feedback in return, that way we find the right pace. I am happy to travel all over Manhattan. If we both like each other after our first meeting, it normally takes me a day or so to plan our tutorials and then I hope the fun begins! Please reach out to me anytime by e-mail or telephone. I would enjoy getting to know you and helping you prepare for exams and broaden your appreciation for literature.
