Hi! My name is Ethan. I graduated from Cornell University in May of 2012. Though I currently have a full-time job, I miss academics, and I want to stay involved with the community. I believe that the opportunity to tutor students learning the same information I was taught is a great way to do this!
During the last 3 years in college, I spent a few hours a week hosting office hours for every introductory physics course that was offered (for one semester, I tutored introductory mathematics courses as well). From this experience, I developed my own versatile teaching style, and gained an understanding of the various parts at which a student might struggle in physics or mathematics. I believe that it is rare to find a tutor who recently completed the same course as the struggling student, but at the same time has hundreds of hours of experience!
The first time I work with a new student, I like to identify the reasons he or she is struggling. The difficulty is often a combination of fundamental and conceptual issues. Depending on which is more pressing, I concentrate on that area. When the student is open to additional practice outside of tutoring hours, I assign supplemental work as well.
I took 3 courses at Cornell University in computer science - CS 1110, CS 2110, CS 4820. My grades were A-, A+, and A. I am currently a software developer, and looking to tutor on the side. I am very experienced tutoring physics and mathematics - I spent 3 years tutoring physics, and 1 semester tutoring math, while at Cornell.
I've tutored math and physics at Cornell for 3 years. While I haven't tutored differential equations specifically, I have encountered many throughout my physics experience. My course grades demonstrate my mastery of the subject, and my experience tutoring will extend to subjects I understand well.
I've tutored math and physics at Cornell for 3 years. While I haven't tutored discrete math specifically, I have encountered the subject throughout my mathematics experience. My course grades demonstrate my mastery of the subject, and my experience tutoring will extend to subjects I understand well.
I also love number theory and attended a summer camp focused on the subject.
I've tutored math and physics at Cornell for 3 years. While I haven't tutored linear algebra specifically, I have tutored it during the semester I spent tutoring math. My course grades demonstrate my mastery of the subject, and my experience tutoring will extend to subjects I understand well.
I've tutored math and physics at Cornell for 3 years. While I haven't tutored logic specifically, I have encountered it in various subjects, including philosophy and mathematics courses. I think logic differs from most other subjects because almost all problems are conceptual in nature, and I adjust accordingly (as mentioned in my self-description).
Great Physics Tutor — Ethan is a great Physics tutor. He has helped my son grasp difficult concepts and improve his test scores. I highly recommend him. ...
