Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area in California, I recently moved to New York by way of Amherst, MA. I graduated from Amherst College, magna cum laude, in 2011 with a double major in Theater & Dance and French, and then worked at Amherst for two years to support students academically and socially following my graduation. I love working with students of all ages, and have years of experience tutoring everyone from preschool through college-age. I received excellent scores on my PSAT (I was a National Merit Scholar), SAT (2260 combined score, including 800 on the math section), and SAT II subject tests (I took math, French, and US history). I am very patient with my students, and also understand that everyone has different learning styles! I enjoy adapting my teaching methods in order to create the most effective and enjoyable tutoring sessions. I also have experience working with children with special needs, such as autism and Aspergers syndrome. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or if you would like my help tutoring! I hope to hear from you soon!

All the best,
Jenney

Elementary (K-6th)

I have many years of experience working with elementary school children. I have tutored them in reading, writing, spelling, and math. I have also spent time as a teacher's assistant in different K-6th classrooms, in which I lead exercises and worked with individual students who were either ahead or behind the rest of the class.

Special Needs

I have worked with a number of children and teenagers with autism and aspergers. I enjoy finding new ways to engage with students with special needs, and have always had positive and productive experiences in this field. I am very patient and calm, and happy to adjust my teaching method to fit your family's needs.

Study Skills

I am exceptionally organized and have tremendous time management skills. During my tenure in the Amherst College Dean of Students Office, I worked with students who were struggling academically, and with them developed study habits that would help them improve. We spent a lot of time working on study skills, scheduling, and personal responsibility.
