After several years as a volunteer literacy tutor while practicing law, I decided to pursue my love of teaching full time. I am a patient and friendly teacher who focuses on my students’ needs, and I have successfully taught a wide variety of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Using practical and engaging activities, I help my students improve their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. I am extremely proud of my students’ progress and the positive feedback I have received. I also have extensive experience editing and proofreading documents to create clear, concise and cogent writing.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

In addition to undergraduate and law school degrees, I have obtained a certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages. I completed a rigorous one-year certificate program, which provided me with a solid theoretical and practical foundation for teaching. I have taught English to students with a wide variety of native language and educational backgrounds. My focus is always a student's individual needs, and I structure comprehensive lessons for each student.
