Before starting tutoring at WyzAnt, I used to tutor a student from LaGuardia High School privately for 3 weeks.
AP biology with a score 5 (highest). In addition, human anatomy was also part of my curriculum at Columbia Universities.
I have tutored the following subjects and sub-topics so far: AP Calculus AB (using the Rogawski textbook now but I personally used James Stewart book); Multivariable Calculus; Vector analysis including cross product, dot product, partial differentiation, multiple integrals, Lagrangian multipliers, and limits for 2 variables. For first semester college calculus, I have tutored limits, anti-derivatives, derivatives, tangent line, and implicit differentiation; and for second semester college calculus I have tutored infinite series (alternating, telescope, geometric and arithmetic series), radius of convergence, improper integrals, and sums of infinite series.
Help with MAPLE labs is also offered for those students who need it for Calc 3 or differential equations class.
Chinese is my native language, which I learned before I started schooling in China. However, ordinary Chinese lessons tend to overly emphasize day-to-day conversations over the importance of conversations in technical or business settings. Having come from a family of scientists in China, my technical vocabulary in Chinese can provide a rather unique assistance to people who work with Chinese-speaking people in business or technical settings.
At Rutgers University, I've taken Differential Equations classes intended for engineering students rather than pure math students. The engineering courses covered, solving PDE(partial differential equation) with Fourier Transform, ODE(ordinary equations) with LaPlace Transform, Method of Frobenius, Heat/Classical Wave Equation, Bessel Function, as well as solving system of differential equations using matrices. I also have experience in dealing with simple harmonic oscillator, motion with linear drag, biological modelling, Schroedinger equations, radiation-dose fractionation for radiation therapy modelling and many other applications.
As a person who learned English as second language myself, I have personal experience with overcoming the burdens as a native speaker of Chinese.
I aim to explain the grammatical differences in English and Chinese languages in simple and straightforward ways for fellow native speakers of Chinese.
In my undergraduate education at Rutgers University, I have taken a class on the subject with a final grade of A. Moreover, linear algebra is a tool I've always used in Classical Mechanics to find principle axis of rotation via finding eigenvectors. In differential equation, the subject is often used to solve systems of differential equations by finding eigenvalues and eigenvectors. As I have mentioned in my profile, my goal of tutoring is to approach mathematics from an applied perspective.
During college and graduate school, I've done many projects in science classes or liberal arts core classes with Word.
For those students who are new to word and have hard time with tedious functions of this software, I can help reduce frustration and facilitate the flow of work.

For the subject of physics I am offering: Quantum mechanics including Time independent Schoedinger equations, infinite potential well, commutation, and hermiticity of operators; Electromagnetism including Electrostatics, electric potential, boundary conditions at interface of 2 dielectric material, Maxwell's equations, magnetostatics, induction, circuits (RC, RL, RCL), and derivation of radiation from accelerated charges; and Classical Mechanics including Newtonian laws, circular motion, Lagrangian operator, rigid body motion, principle axis of rotation, simple harmonic oscillator with damping, and parallel axis theorem. I have and continue to use David Griffiths' book to tutor both Quantum mechanics and Electromagnetism. I use Robert Taylor's book to tutor Classical Mechanics.
As precalculus is a prerequisite for taking calculus, I took this subject as a high school junior and still use the fundamentals from this subject in classes such as calc 1,2,3 and physics classes.
Experience with thermodynamic applications of probability theory such as, Boltzmann distribution, Bose-Einstein condensation, and concept of entropy. In graduate school training, I have experience with applications of probability theory in micro-dosimetry, radiation counter statistics, and radioactive decay.. Finally, I've also had experience in binomial, exponential, Gaussian, Poisson, and conditional probability distributions in a class with pure mathematical settings.
Prior to joining this website, I have tutored a high school student in NYC from LaGuardia High School in Integrated Algebra for about 2hrs/week for 3 weeks. I also have confidence in demonstrating competence in tutoring other math regents exams as well as Physics regents exam considering my background.
