I am a seasoned veteran of the filmmaking and photography community. I have been a cinematographer for over 18 years making feature films, short films, music videos, and commercials. I have strong capabilities in filmmaking.
I am also a photographer and have moved into that area more recently during the last couple of years.
I have done some teaching of film in the past at NYU. I started as a teaching assistant for two years after taking an intensive workshop at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Also I did fill in with a mentor to teach some of his Cinematography lectures.
I am also a member of ICG Local 600 The International Cinematographers Guild which is the biggest union in the US for providing expert workers in the camera end of a film production.
During my tenure early in my career as a camera assistant I was able to work for some prominent directors such as Woody Allen and Sidney Lumet. This experience helped me build my background as a cinematographer. I moved from my years as camera assistant to focus on my work as a cinematographer.
I am currently making a documentary which grew out of my favorite subject in Central Park - the musicians who busk there. I had been photographing them for awhile before I had the idea and that work can be seen on my photography website. The documentary is a very personal project that has been going on for about three years.
As for what I have to offer, I feel my active background is a great plus. I feel that people who have practical experience bring much more to the table and this can pay off to the person who receives it. Basically I feel learn by doing is the best method. So once someone is taught certain photographic techniques I hope that person will want to use it and explore the possibilities of what has been taught.
I hope you will choose me as your next tutor of photography and filmmaking.
I am a veteran cinematographer of the film industry for over 18 years making feature films, short films, music videos, and commercials. My work can be viewed upon request. After an Art History BA at Boston University I took a semester film intensive workshop at NYU School Of Continuing and Professional Studies and I did become a teaching assistant at that program after taking that course. I did that for two years. I feel the best method for teaching in my realm is by doing. That is how I learned over the years as a cinematographer and honed my craft. I would apply the principles that I have learned and help you form your own way of making creative work.
I moved into photography out of filmmaking as another way of expressing my creative energy. I feel my long standing career as cinematographer for 18 years can rollover into my more recent passion of photography. I am an Art History major from Boston University and have always been involved in the arts in some way. My work as a photographer can be viewed upon request. I feel that the best way to learn something in this realm is by doing. One must pick up a camera and take a photo and move in a direction from that point. Make mistakes and hone one's craft and find one's individual spirit.
I am a cinematographer of over 18 years of experience shooting feature films, short films, music videos, and commercials. I have shot both film and video over this long career and feel very comfortable in either medium. I am an Art History major form Boston University. After college I took a semester long intensive workshop at NYC School of Continuing and Professional Studies. After that course I was hired as a teaching assistant which I did for two years. I am very comfortable with cameras and teaching them along with all aspects of film/video making. My main point about teaching this realm is by doing so getting your hands dirty with the equipment and how to apply it to making something is essential.
Very patient. — Brian was a great help to me in figuring out the basics of Final Cut Express. I will probably hire him again as I continue to use Final Cut and come across other problems that I can't figure out. He also has a fine sense of aesthetics and gave me some valuable advice on how to make the video I was working on more visually interesting and more relevant to the viewer. ...
