Hello, Students & Parents!

I'm the kind of tutor who creates a relaxed, positive environment and can help take some pressure off a stressed student. I've worked as a coach and consultant with students (aged 10 to 17), and specifically young theatre artists, for over ten years. My experience comes from directly working with students on analyzing, understanding and discussing the written word. I've studied Shakespeare for 15 years and taught the plays for the last four. I'm an expert in the use of our language and the crafting of ideas and it's been my pleasure to share my enthusiasm with students.

My approach to working with students begins with a deep organization of material and developing clear goals for our time together. I believe the key to successful work is intense focus in a non-judgmental atmosphere. I understand that while expectations can be high, a supportive, curious guide in a calm environment can boost confidence, improve retention and above all, make learning more fun.

I offer custom instruction in English, literature, Shakespeare, history, essay writing, and critical analysis. I'm also an excellent resource for developing big research projects. I can improve comprehension and writing skills by engaging in a stimulating dialogue that results in the clear expression of ideas.

I welcome all questions and look forward to hearing from you!

Please note:

I'm happy to reduce my rate for editing and proofreading if we are not meeting in person; however, the minimum session length for digital work is two hours. Thank you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Theatre

I have over 15 years of theatre experience and a BFA in Stage Management. I have worked with young artists throughout my career. I recently taught A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Professional Performing Arts School. I have experience in monologue and audition preparation and can also offer acting coaching.
