When tutoring or mentoring I like to create a comfortable and joyful atmosphere for my students based on positive reinforcement. I use a step by step approach to teaching to ensure that the student is successful in reaching his or her goals. I teach from a perspective of "Victory". I tell my students that "No matter how difficult the work might seem at the moment you will be definitely be victorious in the end!" All my students have taught me so much about life and made me a better teacher who is compassionate, patient, fun, flexible and extremely sensitive to diversity. My Daughter had Mira since the beginning of October 2013 to work on College Applications. She immediately made my daughter very comfortable. she helped her to navigate through the whole process. She gave her excellent advice on College choices and helped her with the essays. My daughter couldn't have done it without her. Mira is always on time and is very easy to communicate with. She even took time outside the class to review my daughter's essays. She's always very supportive and dedicated. I would highly recommend her.
Mira is a breath of fresh air. She was instrumental in getting my daughter excited about college and helping her to narrow her choices. Mira is knowledgeable about the college acceptance process, and knows a great deal about the schools. It was really difficult to find someone with an art specialty who knows about portfolios, what the schools are looking for, and how to navigate the process. Mira is one of those people that we look forward to seeing, and her positivity rubs off on the whole family when she is here. I will continue to use her, and you should too.
*An update, Mira helped my older daughter prepare her applications and portfolio for colleges. My daughter was not only accepted to the school of her choice (Pratt Institute in New York), she was given a nice scholarship. Mira was a big part in making this happen. Now Mira is helping my youngest daughter, and when she was here today, I felt so relieved and happy that we found her. Thanks Mira!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
