Hello! Thanks for taking a look at my profile. I'd like to give you some background information about myself, my training and why I may be a good match for your tutoring needs.
I am a summa cum laude graduate of New York University, with a double major in Italian Language
Performance. My teaching experience includes private tutoring, elementary school teaching (as a band teacher), tutoring in schools and small group teaching. All of these varied experiences have allowed me to fine-tune my teaching methods, approach and problem-solving skills. I am dedicated to making sure each student improves, meets his or her goals and succeeds, and I tailor each lesson to the student's specific needs, interests and goals.
ITALIAN: I specialize in teaching beginning Italian for adults, and I would be delighted to introduce you to this beautiful language - let's jump in! Whether you're looking to learn Italian for fun, travel or business
, my clear explanations, engaging activities and thorough teaching will leave you speaking Italian in no time...allora, andiamo! (So, let's go!) I also love teaching children!
MUSIC: I teach flute
and general music
. I teach children and adults, and I especially enjoy teaching adults (their enthusiasm and dedication is inspiring!). I am also an AmSAT-certified Alexander Technique teacher, having completed a three-year, 1600-hour training program. The Alexander Technique is a method for freedom of movement - this is essential for playing an instrument well - so my lessons often incorporate physical suggestions for playing more efficiently, as well as hands-on manual instruction to create increased awareness on the part of the student. I also teach the Alexander Technique privately, which can be a wonderful complement to private music lessons.
QUESTIONS? Don't hesitate to ask! I love to hear from you, and would be happy to answer any and all questions you may have.
