I am an ESL/ESOL, Reader, writing, and English literature tutor. I've received my Bachelors of Arts in English literature at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and am currently completing my MFA in creative writing at Columbia University. I was a teacher for two years in South Korea where I taught ESL to elementary students as well as adults. After that I became a Proposal Writer and Assistant Director of Marketing for Swanson Services Corporation. In both positions having talents in proof reading, grammar, sentence structure, and subject were paramount. In teaching especially, I have learned how to hone my talents as a writer in order to help my students become better writers/readers themselves.

As a teacher and tutor I believe that education has to be enriching and enjoyable in order for my students to get the most out of their experience. I come prepared to all of my lessons and with a winning attitude that I hope is infectious and helps motivate my students.

All of my formal education has been in academic English. I studied English literature at the University of Colorado and am currently pursuing an MFA at Columbia University.

I have two years of experience in formal class room settings as a teacher of ESL in South Korea. I also have experience in private tutoring. I'm willing to take on students of all levels.

Literature is my passion. If your student needs help prepping for class or understanding the literature they're assigned to read, I believe it helps to have a tutor who is not only formally trained in understanding and dissecting literature, but to have one that lives and breaths literature in their daily life.

I have honed my proof reading skills as a student of English, English teacher in South Korea, and proposal writer.

For students to understand reading comprehension I believe that it's of the utmost importance to to tutor in an up-beat tone. Reading comprehension for tests can be dry, however, when students make a break through, the results are gratifying.

I'm a writer and student of creative writing at Columbia University. Simply put, writing is my life's passion and I am experienced in teaching it to others.
