OF TEACHING IS THE ART OF FACILITATING DISCOVERY, someone said once.
I fully agree- more often than not, 50% of my job is to let you know that I am here, and to hold the space for you to access what you already know. The other 50% is knowing how to communicate my language
or other craft in a way that will permeate your brain seamlessly.
Originally from Spain, I grew up bilingual (Spanish
/Basque). I graduated in Social Studies
and Audiovisual Communication, and in Classical Piano
, before moving to NYC in 2001. I also hold a professional certificate in Arts Administration from NYU and am currently enrolled in the Integrative Sound Healing Practitioner certificate program at the Sound and Music Institute.
I LOVE teaching just as much as I love music and languages, which are not so far apart in terms of the parts of the brain that they use. I have been teaching Spanish to adults and children for the last year at a wonderful school called Fluent City. Before then, I tutored and taught privately. I have also worked with teenagers as director of TeenARTS, the Harlem School of the Arts' teens summer camp, and currently support the learning process of 5 to 11 years old children at one of the YMCA's after school programs.
Aside of my teaching experience, I am also an experienced translator and interpreter.
Why do I like tutoring? Because it is a very rewarding setting for teachers, since it allows us to really cater to the needs and goals of the individual student.
