I obtained a high school diploma for sciences in my native Italy and am completing a Bachelor’s Degree in biochemistry in the US. The need for balancing patience, dedication, and the satisfaction of helping others, is what makes tutoring so attractive to me. If patience balances my eagerness for knowing more, dedication directs my efforts into personal achievements. My curiosity for science and music is so strong that even random science/music-related conversations that I may overhear in the cafeteria capture my attention. Ultimately, the satisfaction of caring for people reassures me that I am contributing to something extremely valuable. I acknowledge such gratification every time I receive a letter from Mokbul, an 11 year old boy from Bangladesh, whom my family adopted through a long distance project. Coming from a family which has always taught me the values of education and civil living, I am truly convinced that helping people is one of the most meaningful aspects of life.
In pursuing a medical career, I have obtained various personal qualities that are extremely crucial in a good medical practitioner and tutor. My experiences, thus far, have shaped me into a well-organized and self-sufficient person, willing to obtain new skills that will allow me to become a more responsible individual. Eager for challenges, I interned in clinical biochemistry to focus on both theoretical and practical aspects of biomedical sciences. Furthermore, I decided to dedicate myself to two senior research projects (the synthesis of potential Ru(II)-hydroxypyridones anticancer complexes and the investigation AChE inhibition in Danio rerio) developing enhanced laboratory skills which I would not have acquired from only one project.
Sharing what I have learned with my peers has also been a leitmotiv throughout my life. Becoming a Supplemental Instructor of chemistry and biology proved to be a very challenging, yet extremely valuable role. Leadership did not necessarily reap benefits; it mostly required organizational and communication skills, as well as patience; all qualities of a first-class doctor. Graduating in Piano Performance has also been crucial for learning how to survive gruelling schedules and perform under pressure. Through chamber music, I refined my ability to work with people, while sharing my passion with others. Not only did I dedicate daily hours of practice to music, but I also provided a different stimulus for my mind. Ultimately, the experience of studying abroad has given me the opportunity for mastering my adaptability, courage, curiosity, and sacrifice in order to pursue excellence.
