I have been working in Finance (both as a researcher and trader) since 2005.
I went to the German High School in Bucharest (German being my 2nd native language), undergrad in EE at the Polytechnic University, Bucharest, and grad school at Cambridge University (Economics) and Stanford University (Math, Finance, Electrical Eng).
I spent most of my last 10+ years doing research&trading in quantitative finance. While at Stanford I have also worked as a TA, teaching classes in finance, economics and physics. I have been helping students with 1-to-1 tutoring sessions as well (teaching both science subjects as well as foreign languages: German and French)
I have experience in helping both high-school and undergrad/grad students. Given my background and experience I am very comfortable in tutoring the following subjects: mathematics (calculus, algebra, geometry, diff equations), finance (e.g. valuation, securities, trading, derivatives), economics (e.g. micro or macro), econometrics, statistics and quantitative modeling.
Given my work experience in the hedge fund business, I am also providing consulting on areas related to trading, risk management, quantitative/systematic strategies, fixed income and derivatives.
I have been programming in C# in all of my previous jobs over the last 10 years.
Most of my programming in C# has been in the field of Finance: Building Credit Derivatives and Fixed Income pricing models and developing algorithmic trading models.
I have taken various math courses at Stanford and Ploytchnic Univ Bucharest covering the following discrete math topics: Basic Graph Theory, Basic Algebraic Graph Theory, Dynamic Programming
Approximation Algorithms, Randomized Algorithms, The Probabilistic Method. I have an M.S. degree in Financial Mathematics from Stanford University.
I have studied Econometrics while in grad school both at Cambridge University & Stanford University. I took several MS & PhD level classes which covered numerous topics.
I have a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Hence I went through all the Stanford MS EE curriculum
I have taken multiple linear algebra both in college and in grad school. My BS dissertation in control engineering heavily relied on linear algebra. My work as an RA at Stanford was also making heavy use of linear algebra (with a focus on matrices). I took linear algebra classes with Gene Golub at Stanford.
I have been using Matlab through both my academic and professional career. I used Matlab extensively for my research in electrical engineering at Stanford as well as for my BS dissertation. While working in finance in NY, I have implemented a few trading models in Matlab. I should be able to teach Matlab at a pretty advanced level. I am also familiar with some of their toolboxes (statitics, finance, etc.).
I have an M.S. degree in Financial Mathematics from Stanford University. I have 15 years' experience investing in the stock market, and 4 years' experience managing clients' money.I also have a Diploma in Economics from Cambridge University. I regularly teach corporate & quantitative finance and econ/econometrics courses to college/MBA/Industry professionals.
