I am a published author in English and a fluent speaker in Italian available for tutoring sessions in and around the New York City area. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language and Applied Linguistics at Teachers College of Columbia University, and I have tutored and taught previously at Rutgers University and privately in Italy.
As a student of languages myself, I understand the difficulty and frustration that can come with learning a new language, or in the case of writing, the difference in speaking as opposed to harnessing a language for the purposes of the written page. However, I try to minimize the stress of these tasks for my students by creating a patient and relaxed environment in which they can learn. I will tailor my lessons to the needs of my students and make myself available to any and all questions they may have.
My personal theory is that speaking a second language and writing in your own are two tasks that rely heavily on style, especially at the beginning. My job will be to help you craft what style of learning and communicating works for you. Whether you want to speak Italian or write clearly and concisely in English, I would love to help eager students learn the grammar, and cultural components necessary to communicate on all levels.
