I am currently getting my PhD in math and I am also a teaching assistant. I have over 10 years of experience in tutoring students in all math subjects as well as SAT and GRE preparation.

I have worked with middle school, high school, college and graduate students taking math courses. I have been an instructor in discrete mathematics and a teaching assistant in all levels of calculus as well as differential equations. I obtained my master's degree in pure mathematics in 2007 and I also received the "Award for Outstanding Teaching Assistant in the Mathematics Department".

My approach to tutoring math is to first introduce students to the theory behind the specific area, how it fits in a global picture, and lots and lots of practice problems, examples, and (if possible) applications.

Differential Equations

I have been a Teaching Assistant in Differential Equations 8 times over the past 5 years. I teach twice a week, 3 groups of about 30 students. I have conducted quizzes, exams, and final exams in the subject matter. Below, I have outlined the main areas that I have concentrated on in this course.

Differential Equations course material covers Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations. The main areas are: First order, Second Order homogeneous and non-homogeneous equations and applications, Laplace Transforms, Power Series Solutions, Boundary Value Problems, Eigenvalues and Eigenfunctions, solving PDEs (Heat Flow, Vibrating String problems) using separation of variables, and Fourier Series.

Discrete Math

I am an instructor for Discrete Math. My course provides the background necessary for advanced study of mathematics or computer science. Topics include propositional calculus, predicates and quantifiers, elementary set theory, countability, functions, relations, proof by induction, elementary combinatorics, elements of graph theory.

The objective of my course is to help students develop the ability to think abstractly and critically, and ti improve proof-writing skills.

Linear Algebra

As a graduate and undergraduate student of mathematics, I have completed linear algebra courses as well as taught theory on matrices and systems of differential equations.
