I am a Columbia Law student that teaches the LSAT using a few basic concepts of logic. My approach will enable you to answer questions correctly and confidently every time. The key to scoring well on the LSAT is becoming enthusiastic about the exam! Studying for the LSAT can be a fun experience and it's what enabled me to go from scoring in the 50th percentile on my first diagnostic, to the 99th percentile on my actual exam. If you want to attend a great law school, then the best decision you can make is to take the LSAT seriously and give it your all. I will not only teach you the same methods and study habits that allowed me to make that huge jump, but just as critically, how to get excited about studying for the LSAT!
I am currently in my third and final year at Columbia Law School, where I have twice been recognized as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar for academic excellence. I also serve as the Executive Submissions Editor for the Columbia Journal of Law & the Arts. This past year, I was a summer associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell, where I will be returning as an associate after graduating. I received my BA from New York University, graduating magna cum laude from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study where I studied entertainment law and management.
I live in Morningside Heights and would prefer to conduct tutoring sessions at a cafe near the university, although I may be willing to travel to other parts of Manhattan. I also teach remote lessons upon request. I am a Columbia Law student that teaches the LSAT using a few basic concepts of logic. For LSAT preparation, Julian is hands down a terrific tutor. He knows the intricacies of all four section types inside and out, and can succinctly explain the nuances of every question type within each section. Unlike the formal courses offered by companies, Julian's one on one approach is tailored to each individual, and thus exponentially more efficient than class-based preparation. He is also very prompt in answering phone calls and texts, and is quite flexible in terms of availability and any schedule changes. Julian is also well versed in the law school admissions process, and can provide specific advice on both the process and various aspects of the actual application. Furthermore, it is evident from both his demeanor and method of teaching that Julian cares about the performance of his students; he customizes homework and tutoring sections on a weekly basis, and is even willing to manually write questions himself for students. Frankly, I have yet to encounter another private tutor who provides such a degree of professionalism and dedication.
The bottom line is that Julian knows how to teach the LSAT in a sincere and highly effective manner. While I was previously set on enrolling in another service due to the belief that their services would be superior to his, the bottom line is that there is no substitute for one on one tutoring. And most importantly, there is no substitute for an excellent tutor who knows what he/she is teaching inside and out.
Julian is a wonderful tutor. He is incredibly bright, articulate and explains concepts in a very detailed manner without being pedantic. An added plus for me is that he is able to teach so many different subjects. I would work with Julian again.
Julian is an excellent tutor! He is extremely knowledge, patient and has a great understanding of the material he is teaching. He has taught me how to use PowerPoint and explained how to design incredible slides for my presentation. He is also tutoring me in Management Information Systems. This course contains very complex technological terms. He explains these complex terms so I can understand the concept of the material. He also has provided me with great methods for studying the material. He is on time for his tutoring sessions and will respond immediately if you need to reschedule. I would definitely recommend Julian to anyone looking for an excellent tutor.
Julian was great, very patient, knowledgeable and I would certainly recommend him to my friends. He was helpful to me in just the short time that we spent together!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I teach the LSAT using a few basic concepts of logic that will enable you to answer questions correctly and confidently every time. These are the same methods that allowed me to achieve a score in the 99th percentile on the actual test; anyone can learn to use them and they do not rely on guesswork of any sort. I studied for the LSAT full-time for three months while taking a full-length test prep course. During that time, I completed almost every question released since 1991. My actual score on the exam was a 173 and I can provide an official score report upon request.
