My goal in life is to teach mathematics with simplicity and understanding. I am committed to making a mark that cannot be erased, locally and globally. That is why I left my tenured teaching position in Atlanta, GA to pursue my doctorate in mathematics education at Teachers College, Columbia University. There are too many people today that state, "I hated math when I was in school." Math is not about memorizing rules and procedures, its actual logic built into our everyday lives... from the arch of a bridge to the coordinates of the street to the mass transit system... without mathematics none of the above would be possible.

In addition to teaching the rule and procedure of any given concept, I provide the student with a deeper understanding by showing the "how and why" of the rule and procedure. As a tutor, I am patient with my students and I challenge them to the best of their ability.

My current availability is flexible. I look forward to helping you or your child learn mathematics.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Expert helping students pass the Algebra I Regents exam.

Praxis

I am a certified teacher of mathematics in the state of New York and Georgia. I have passed the Praxis II in mathematics and I was exempt from taking the Praxis I due to my high scores on the GRE as well as SAT. I have also passed teacher qualification tests in the State of New York. I can show proof of my teaching certificates if need be. Thanks.

Regents

I am available to tutor for the Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry Regents exams. I have 10 plus years' experience teaching in the mathematics classroom. I am extremely patient with those I tutor.

I have been teaching in the classroom for more than ten years now. I have taught Algebra I, 7 out of those 10 years. Why do they call Algebra One the gatekeeper? Why does this subject give students so many problems? What most people do not know is that Algebra as a classroom subject is fairly young in age. Algebra as an area of mathematics, started back in the 1700's. The origin of Algebra... read more
