Students are often taught ‘how’ to attack a problem with memorization, but rarely the ‘why’ behind the method of attack. All students can learn math ‘tricks,’ those who understand the ‘why’ can invent them. To this end I teach..
Why I tutor:
It's challenging and it's fun! It’s satisfying to learn a difficult subject, but it is far more fulfilling to help someone else learn! Many students don't realize how intelligent they are until they've been taught in a way that accommodates their learning style. As I teach students new ways to learn, they teach me new ways to teach.
Generally non-negotiable, but if it's a subject I really like, and you really want to learn it, I would be more than happy to drop the going-rate.
