Hello to all of you hard-working and achievement-driven students out there!

I've been through years of college and learning and know how daunting it can be when one is on the search for a better grasp of a particular subject matter or context ! It feels great when there is the right kind of support out there to save one from a "free fall!"

As indicated, I am a versatile communicator across frontiers tutoring students not only through projects in the Language Arts, Essays, Poetry and Creative Writing in the 'local' language, but add a twist, if needed, to help the flow in foreign tongues as well. I am fluent in German and have a competent knowledge of conversational French + Spanish with a very close to authentic accent (includ. Reading comprehension and test prep strategy for all 4 languages). My background in the psychology of learning is something I can always rely on when it comes to writer's block, test phobias or being overwhelmed within a sea material. Other subjects I can make any students more fond of in case there is a lack of motivational desire are the fields of Psychology and the Visual Arts (I have majored in both).

When it comes to tailored mentoring and coaching students I have the edge to working out the root of the issue before you think further to give up on your abilities (Learning doesn't have to cause a major difficulty, nor need to turn into an obstacle of daily life).

As a former cross-cultural student adviser, I've had multiple experience creating resolutions for my students, and often their parents. Your concern might be how to select your upcoming semester course load, deciding on a suitable college, or other various trouble-shooting incentives within various academic issues. I am very confident that there are answers to be found right in front of you. If you do seek help with writing just about anything, Foreign Languages, Art History, Visual Arts, Psych., perhaps an International Student Exchange Program, College selection and their Entry Process, one-on-one Coaching/Mentoring (for parents as well!) please do not hesitate to contact me for a FREE consultation.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

I have gained invaluable experience working as an Academic Advisor among a multicultural college student body. My tasks not only evolved around assisting students to design their course load for the coming semester or pinpointing them to various colleges and universities that might be 'the' place for them to develop future careers. I've grown used to wearing multiple hats to address each student's concern individually, whereas much of it involved tailored career counseling since it occurred rather frequently that majors were switched because they didn't match a student's aptitude. An important component of my position was to deal with Internship/Externship placement which in itself is a focus on career choice and how to get there. I am proud to have set numerous students on their first road towards independence !

Photography

My first 2.5 years of college I've majored in Fine Arts where I've chosen Photography as my favored medium within the Visual Arts. I am trained in Black/White photography, darkroom development, worked with a hand-held camera taking pictures in numerous settings and various lighting conditions. Written essays about photography, completed courses with an A+ in Photojournalism and History of Photography. Additionally, I've completed a Photography Assistantship at the side of a known photographer for a summer semester. I am experienced with some Color photography and Color darkroom techniques.

Public Speaking

" Public speaking " is a fascinating subject to me because it fertilizes growth within each us we've never thought we could experience. I've successfully completed Communication, Debate and Group Dynamics courses in college followed later by my giving power point presentations in front of an audience of 200. I believe that I am well prepared to share my teachings and tools of success to become an engaging and powerful public speaker with a versatile student body. I've been awarded a certification for a 3-month Professional Enhancement course mainly focusing on presentation and public speaking skills. I have grown very confident within this subject.

Study Skills

I very much enjoy assisting students in exam preparation which to me is very close to individual coaching (a subject I am actually certified in). I have quite a number of years of home tutoring experience where not so much the subject itself but the way to understand and train ones mind how to best approach it became the issue at hand. Every student is unique in his/her approach to mastering contents of any subject and it is ever so often the tutor who guides that process. I've taught children in Pre K and between 1st-4th grade, as well as teenagers and college students how to approach, better grasp and finally apply this readiness to the actual test-taking. I've dissolved writer's blocks, test anxieties, fears of reading + writing, and made studying more fun than it ever was thought to be ! It is the interaction of both, the student and the tutor/coach that can become a life-changing experience for anyone who is in the process of learning just about anything ! I have witnessed Study Skills an individual student brings to the table, regardless how efficient or how maladaptive they might be, come alive and really make a difference in a student's self-confidence.
