I am not just another tutor. I am also an accomplished writer, and instructor - and star student! I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Anthropology, and graduated summa cum laude (SUNY at Buffalo). I then earned a Master’s Degree in English with honors from Columbia University and completed most of my doctoral credits on full academic scholarship. I also won a NY Times Foundation scholarship to NYU Writer’s Conference.
I have about 15 years of experience as a tutor and have taught writing, critical thinking, film and literature on the college and university level for more than 15 years, working with all levels of students. I also have very successful experience with the SAT (Verbal and literature), GRE, and GMAT.
I have particular expertise as a college admissions essay coach; I've worked with students crafting persuasive college and professional school admissions essays. My students have been admitted to prestigious and selective universities, including Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, NYU and Georgetown University. I have also also had some remarkable, quick and dramatic results, boosting students' test scores on standardized tests by 100-150 points on one section of the exam in as few as three or four sessions.
I've successfully worked with students revising doctoral dissertations and Master’s essays in multiple disciplines - including political science and applied mathematics, worked with adults sharpening their business and non-fiction writing skills, and helped students with college-level essays in the humanities, social sciences, and applied mathematics. She even helped an attorney pass the Bar exam (analytical writing).
I am a widely-published magazine writer, researcher and editor.
