I am a graduate of NYU and am currently working in a 4th grade general education classroom. I have experience teaching students one-on-one in math, reading and writing. I love to work closely with a single student and watch him or her grow; I have a good sense for what my students need both academically and personally. During my time at NYU, I studied education, drama, and American Sign Language. Teaching public speaking and performance skills is a strength of mine, which I have cultivated over years of personal study as well as teaching drama and dance to students of all ages. I currently teach American Sign Language to 3rd and 4th grade students once a week. So far, they have learned a great deal in a short amount of time, and I am incredibly proud of their achievements. ASL is a beautiful, logical language that can be a helpful, liberating medium of expression for many children. As a teacher, I strive to encourage and affirm my students, but I also hold them to high expectations. I feel that every child has the ability to succeed as long as they are willing to work hard and ask for help whenever they need it.
