I am a UT Southwestern medical student, pursuing my dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. I'm also a Washington University in St Louis graduate. At WashU, I was a Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology and Biology major. In my spare time, I tutored fellow students in Biology, Calculus, General, and Organic chemistry. On the weekends, I volunteered my tutoring skills, teaching high school and middle school students subjects, ranging from basic algebra to high school chemistry.
While tutoring, I usually like to work with students, one on one. Before a session, I create practice questions that need to be answered before coming to me. It helps me gauge their current leveling of understanding. Depending on their understanding and a copy of their school curriculum, the student and I can come up with a personalized track to improve their learning. I will also teach the student several of my own study skills. Lastly, I find it helpful for the student when they come in with a classmate study buddy. Learning is best done in small group settings. This is isn't necessary, but I will allow it.
