My passion for teaching students math has been a driving force during my life. I love to work with students of all skill levels to provide them with a love and understanding of Mathematics. My focus is always on building a conceptual understanding of mathematics as the primary focus of understanding. Students need to understand why math works the way it does. They don't need steps for solving problems, they need to understand why steps work.
Currently, I work as an Elementary, Middle School, and High School Education Consultant in and around New York City. Most of the Teachers and Students I work with are Elementary and Middle School level. I work to help both teachers and students build deeper understandings of Mathematics so that they can learn to engage with Math in a meaningful way.
My teaching experience was in a public High School where I taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus during my tenure. I designed my own courses and taught without a textbook for the majority of my time teaching. This gave me a very good understanding of what students need to know to be successful. Along with this, I designed courses around the ACT and SAT that assisted my school in increasing overall scores dramatically.
