I am a PhD candidate at Columbia University, and currently hold a BA with honors from UC Berkeley as well as a Masters in Political Science at Columbia University, in addition to having taken graduate coursework in law and politics at the University of Virginia. Prior to entering graduate school, I was an editorial assistant for tenured faculty members working on assorted book and article projects. Additionally, I assisted with after-school tutoring, college essay writing, journalism, and creative writing workshops in San Francisco for students ages 6-18. This gave me experience working with students of a variety of different backgrounds and with different levels of comfort in their academic work. As an avid reader and writer (both creative and academic, as I work my book-length dissertation), I am comfortable assisting with work on English/writing as well as US history and government/politics. I additionally have performed very well on a number of standardized tests (SAT, SAT II, GRE) and am happy to assist students with the writing and verbal sections of the SAT exam. I enjoy working with students of all ages, and I always strive to be patient and encouraging, and hopefully to inspire my students to enjoy the subjects as much as I do!
