Every student has the potential to succeed, and sometimes one-on-one tutoring can make all the difference.
I truly get to know each client so that tutoring sessions are focused on the specific academic and study skills that are most needed. This allows us to get a lot done each session, which keeps students happy, focused, and motivated. With an extensive academic background, over ten years of full-time private tutoring experience, and a real enthusiasm for the subjects I tutor, I can help get the job done. I am unique in that I have extensive experience (and success!) in both the humanities and in math/science, unlike many tutors who are an expert in one of the two and can just get by in the other. This allows me to take on those harder jobs where a client is looking for really comprehensive tutoring across subjects.
I am new to WyzAnt, and I am happy to send you the reference letters and contact information of previous private clients. Just ask!
My educational background can be broken into two parts. First, applicable for older students, I have a B.A. in Philosophy, a B.S. in Chemistry, and a Ph.D a.b.d. in Chemistry. These degrees give me extensive content knowledge for tutoring math and science as well as any analysis- or writing-based courses like English and history.
Second, applicable to younger students, I hold a primary Montessori certification. This training gives me the background to address all aspects of early childhood development (2.5-6 years old) including a phonetic-based experience of reading and writing, math, sensorial, and practical life. I have helped families not only as a tutor, but also as a consultant, coming into the home for a limited number of sessions to help create an environment that supports learning, independence, and concentration.
