After having completed a B.F.A. at The City College of New York and New School University in Jazz Performance, I went on to teach ESOL (English as a Second Language), High School/College English, Spanish and Music in a variety of classrooms, as well as privately for seven years.
During this time, I developed the ability to structure and implement lessons that catered to the individual needs of middle school and high school students, as well as adult students. In addition to having a practical teaching approach, I particularly enjoy integrating creative elements, such as: drama, games, and music within the classroom and private tutoring sessions, which often generates inspiration and enthusiasm from the students.
I thoroughly enjoy being able to participate in the learning process. I am energetic, motivated, and eager to inspire students to learn, while being dedicated to meeting the challenge of assisting students to achieve their respective goals of a class and/or tutoring sessions. Furthermore, I encourage students to create their own ideas. I emphasize an 'experiential' philosophy of learning, in which they will ultimately gain the skills to teach themselves. In other words, students will "learn how to learn", which could be applied universally to anything a student wishes to learn. With the tools and knowledge I am able to provide for my students, my goal is to guide students further along their desired path of pursuits.
