I'm an experienced and state-certified teacher and Ph.D. dedicated to my students' success. A native of Michigan, I've taught a wide range of courses in Social Studies and Science at the secondary and college levels in N.Y. for the last 20 + years. In addition, I've designed two undergraduate courses in the City University of New York, and published a host of articles on a variety of topics in scholarly journals, such as "The History Teacher" and "The European Legacy" and in reference works, such as "The Encyclopedia of World Revolution".
Students learn differently. By giving you different short assessments, such as pre-tests and quizzes and short writing assignments, and talking with you I'm usually able to identify your strengths and weaknesses quickly, and can then design a learning plan that puts you on the path to academic success.
My students have consistently out-performed their peers on standardized exams like the SAT and ACT and in their grades. For instance, in June 2013 a junior on Long Island I had been teaching for three months passed the Regents Global Studies and Geography exam with a 97. Another passed the AP European History with a 4 and has been accepted to an Ivy League school.
