Born into a family of educators, I have been working with school-aged children for over 10 years. I am a graduate from the Boston College Lynch School of Education, and now I am an Ed.M. candidate at the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education (one course to go!)
Currently, I am completing my fourth year of teaching 6th-8th grade mathematics (including Algebra I) at a public school in New Brunswick, NJ.
I am certified by the state of New Jersey to teach K-8 Elementary classes, and am considered highly qualified by the NJ DOE to teach Middle School Mathematics and Middle School English Language Arts.
Outside my own classroom, I have three years experience teaching an after-school program to help boost student standardized test scores. I have worked with small groups of students in grades 3 and 5-8, and I have had success in raising student standardized test scores by 30 points.
My philosophy in teaching stems from getting to know students' personal interests and incorporating them into interesting interactive lessons.I wholeheartedly believe in mixing traditional teaching techniques with today's available technology. I also hold a certificate in Educational Technology from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education.
