Hello there! Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! I hope you will consider me for (insert name here) tutoring! Now enough of the clichés, let's do some real talk.
Firstly, let me tell you why I am here. I am here because I was in your position. Faced with deadlines, daunting expectations, and results- I know all too well the feeling of dread and anxiousness that tests and education can bring. I went for help- and fortunately had the best help I could have ever imagined. I got results, and more importantly, learned skills to help me for the rest of my life.
I didn't always love learning, but I did love the validation that came from getting good results. But after a twist of fate, after a terrible period of my life during high school, I had forgotten about the validation of grades. No longer was I in a constant state of anxiety, an omnipresent gnaw at the back of my psyche. No longer did good results temporarily give relief, and thus enable the mindset- that results are the only thing that matter. I started anew, looked for help, and started to see education in a different light.
Great tutoring brought me daily satisfaction in my work and drove me forward. Suddenly, I was learning for the sake of learning, developing passions, and seeing connections between disciplines. Results came, but as a byproduct of not just how much I learned, but how I learned. With the individualized attention that was given to me, I took things slowly and methodically, with guidance from my tutor. I started both answering the questions correctly, and asking the right questions. The experiences I had with my tutor made me appreciate my results more wholly- I had the confidence to take any challenge on and they were a mark of my hard work and diligent learning.
From that experience in my life, I ended up with straight A's and was accepted into some of the most prestigious colleges in the country. I chose Amherst College, the most selective liberal arts college in the country, over some "big name" schools because I knew they valued learning and great teaching like I did. I am currently taking a variety of courses and plan to triple major in Biophysics, Music and Philosophy along with fulfilling pre-medical requirements. The things that I learned with my experience in tutoring have carried over and the results as well as the intangible benefits that flow from it cannot be measured. I stand here today, eager to learn, and eager to show other students like me a path to a more meaningful success.
I tutor general Chemistry, sentential Logic, algebra, music theory and composition, piano, physics, standardized tests and more.
