Hello, My name is Edgard. I was born and raised in New York City and currently live in the Bronx. I am a Meteorologist for NY1 News and a graduate student at the School of Education at the City College of New York. I am currently seeking certification as an Earth Science teacher by May of next year.
I am available to tutor General Math through Algebra 1, as I am very proficient in those subjects. I also can tutor Earth Science for students in grades 8-12.
I took several years of Mathematics courses as an undergraduate student. I tutored Math at a Mathematics resource lab at a high school in Albany, New York during my college years. I would be responsible for 4-5 students at a time for 45 minutes. I also obtained a 99 on the Algebra 1 Regents exam. At times, I continue to tutor family and friends who are taking Algebra, or general math. I hold a passing score on the Content Specialty Test in Earth Science and have passed the Liberal Arts and Science Test for teachers. Proof of these scores and a resume can be presented upon request.
I speak Spanish fluently. My family hails from the Dominican Republic so I grew up speaking Spanish. I would be able to help ESL students as well in Math and/or science. I am very patient, considerate and outgoing, and I won't rest until the student is satisfied with their session or until they feel better about their subject of question. I will break things down into easy steps so that students can understand the problem, issue or question.
I am available anytime during the late afternoon, evenings and on weekends this summer. I look forward to helping, assisting and motivating students to push ahead and to succeed.
