Hi! My name is Alexa and I'm currently a student at Columbia University, double majoring in Anthropology and Latin American & Caribbean Studies. I have been studying Spanish for 5 years, including one semester abroad in Chile. I tutored students during high school, whether it was an official agreement between me and another student or I was simply helping out my friends before a big test. My strongest areas are those related to basic math, intermediate Spanish, English, and reading. I am familiar with both the ACT and the SAT, performing well on both. I received a 32 out of a possible 36 on the ACT, and a 2240 out of a possible 2400 (or 1490 out of 1600) on the SAT. I was named a National Merit and National Achievement Scholar for my high performance on the PSAT. I have also taken several Advanced Placement Tests (in subjects such as English, History, Government, and Economics), scoring a 3 or above on all of them and earning the title of an AP Scholar with Honor. When I am helping or tutoring someone, my goal is not just to give them the answers to their questions. I prefer to guide them so that we can find the answer together and more importantly, so that they will be able to repeat the process on their own once the tutoring session has been completed. I find tutoring to be very rewarding, and I always end up learning something new from my students as well.
