I am a Phillips Academy Andover graduate and a Brown University student. I scored a 2400 on the SAT reasoning test and 800s on the Math 2, Biology M, and French SAT subject tests. My results on these exams garnered admission to several Ivy League institutions, Harvard and Princeton among them. I have two years of formal experience tutoring science and writing at the high school level along with countless hours of more informal tutoring for my friends. I am currently a volunteer tutor with Brown SAT Prep, a program funded by the Swearer Center for Public Service.
My approach to SAT tutoring emphasizes the development of a strong knowledge foundation as well as smart test taking skills. The SAT is a game; I have beaten it and so can anyone who puts in the effort. But while tricks and strategies may give you an extra edge over the exam, the heart of preparing well for a test is knowing the foundational concepts down cold. I ensure that my tutees have a truly deep understanding of the underlying material so that when it comes to test time, nothing is left to chance.
Let me be clear: there is no magic formula. Hard work and motivation are prerequisites to test taking success. A strong work ethic, however, does not necessarily yield excellent scores. That's where I come in. Because while I can't guarantee that every one of my tutees will come away with a perfect score, I can certainly ensure that their efforts will be harnessed in the most efficient and productive manner possible.
I enjoy sharing knowledge and I take delight in my students' success. Please do not hesitate to let me know if I can be of any assistance.
