I am an experienced tutor who loves English, loves teaching and loves working with young adults. I have been a tutor since 10th grade, and I have been an active writer even longer. I received a 780 and 800 on my SAT in reading and writing. It would be my pleasure to share my passion for writing and literature with a student of any age.
A little about me:
At my college, I served as the editor-in-chief of the Kenyon Collegiate, one of the school's most popular publications. I also worked at the Kenyon Writing Center, where I read essays written by fellow Kenyon students and collaborated with them to flesh out the ideas in their papers and to fix any grammatical or spelling errors. In addition, I volunteered regularly at the nearby Wiggin Street School where I taught English to second graders.
For the past two summers, I have worked at the Brooks School's Teen Quest summer program, where I ran and implemented the Performing Arts program. This entailed creating a thorough and diverse curriculum that supported and challenged students of all levels. Students wrote monologs, invented theater games and performed in a weekly play.
I am a playwright who's had pieces produced in Chicago, Nebraska, Ohio, Iowa, Minnesota, Massachusetts and throughout NYC. I've been published in Thought Catalog, HyperVocal and Trop Magazine and I'm a contributor to a pop culture blog. I am also a graduate of UCB's core improv program.
I believe that the best learning happens in an environment of trust, humor and engaging conversation. I strive not to be didactic, but to guide students towards finding the answers themselves.
