I am a dedicated teacher and teaching is my passion. I always check in with the student to be sure that they are learning and are not just following direction according to the assignment. Learning should a process and it should be not just meeting educational goals, but it should be enjoyable for the student to have the pride and the knowledge of accomplishment.
My educational history consists of having achieved my credential in educational theater from City College. I am currently working on my extension in Gifted Education and will be taking courses towards a credential in English Education.
What brings me to work on my credential in English is that for a long time in my work I wrote about how to justify theater in the classroom because I believe that the art of theater is a bridge to academics. To clarify, I believe that students who work on some of their acting skills by working on reading and writing through theater, whether it be to write their own work and act it, or to analyze the works of Shakespeare through theater games and text analysis, become better more thoughtful students in an academic classroom. That said, even though I have had some success working in an English classroom as a substitute teacher and now as a volunteer tutor for an after school program in English, it has become important to work on English skills so that I can know first hand how English mechanics work so that I can understand them as a drama teacher. Additionally, I earnestly want to teach in an English classroom because I enjoy working with the subject. And I know the benefits of having a tutor who is serious about any subject that they work on. And I am serious about English and enjoy the process of teaching and tutoring.
