My name is Caroline. I am a junior at Barnard College studying archaeology. I am very involved with my academic career. I am the secretary of the Columbia University Archaeology Circle, I conduct research for my advisor, meaning I do field work with him, conduct archival research, and work in the archaeology lab. I have presented at national conferences for archaeology. I am interested in historical archaeology, which is very inter-disciplinary, and allows for me to pursue all of my academic interests, such as English, Spanish, history, human rights, and even math and other skills.
I have been a babysitter for Barnard Babysitting Agency for three years- though I have babysat much longer- and in my various jobs I've often been required to tutor, which I enjoyed greatly and feel that I have excelled at. My extensive experience with children from 1-12, and tutoring from ages 7-12, means that I am patient and good at communicating with kids and at helping them understand and learn things they are either unfamiliar with or that have previously caused them difficulty. Despite being more liberal arts inclined, I have always been proficient at math and have taken physics and advanced math through Calculus II. I feel my slight difficulty with math makes me better at teaching it, because unlike people who never struggled with it, I know tricks and how to break down all the steps, etc. As I mentioned earlier, I am more liberal arts inclined, and am extremely proficient at English, History, etc.
