Born and bred in Washington Heights, a neighborhood in Uptown Manhattan, I developed an affinity for science at a very early age. Growing up in a bilingual household allowed me to better navigate my way through the ever-changing cultural landscape that is New York.
My passion for teaching, tutoring and mentoring began in high school; that was the moment I realized I could help others understand difficult concepts in subjects like Biology and Chemistry. I went on to study Neuroscience at NYU and received my B.S. in 2007. In 2008, my studies also took me to Havana, Cuba, for a year and a half, where I was called upon to lead many student meetings as well as deliver public speeches. I was also an instructor of martial arts for about 7 years in New York City, from 2004-2011.
Having mentored middle school and high school students from Manhattan and the Bronx as an undergraduate, I moved to Providence, R.I. to support my girlfriend in her graduate studies. I am currently in the process of applying to graduate programs in neuroscience, with hopes of also one day becoming a college professor.
