I graduated from Harvard with a B.A. in History and Science, and a minor in Global Health and Health Policy. My degree has given me even footing in both the humanities and sciences. Equally at home tutoring in writing, biological sciences, and math, I have a versatile skill set adaptable to my students' needs. I offer sessions covering everything from essay and thesis editing to anatomy to standardized test prep.
I currently hold a position researching medical ethics at Columbia University, where I have also served as a teaching assistant for a history of medicine class. In the past, I worked with students in Boston as an SAT prep and college admissions tutor, and was offered a position with the Corps of Teach for America in San Francisco. I was also employed by the Harvard Admissions Office to give both tours and information sessions to prospective students, an experience which allows me to provide my students with a unique view inside college admissions.
Originally from Arizona, I also taught swimming lessons to children ages 5-17 for five years as a Red Cross-certified Water Safety Instructor and swim team coach. I am patient, thorough, and work to promote full understanding of the context of a subject and the process of problem-solving. I engage students through active learning, which is where long-lasting comprehension and retention begins.
