Dear Students and Parents,
Hello! I am a new graduate from Mount Holyoke College, with magna cum laude. I studied Environmental Studies in college, plus my liberal arts education exposed me to different topics such as Literature, Art History, Biology, Economics and Music. I hope to promote language education with a liberal arts "add-on". In this way, my students will enjoy learning languages better and learn about other subjects along the way.
I am a native Chinese speaker, and I am fluent in English and Spanish. In my college, I did one-year study abroad in Madrid, Spain. Now I am a full-time worker in an international company, but also a TESOL MA candidate at Columbia University. I want to focus my study on transcultural learning and second language acquisition.
Regarding exams, I am specialized in assisting students with TOEFL, in which I got 115 out of 120. I am good at translating and grammars. If the student's native language is Spanish or Chinese, I can fully understand their difficulties learning English and detect their problems promptly.
Besides languages, I am able to tutor Algebra, Geometry, Ecology and basic Genetics as well. Scientific writing is also one of my specialties. I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a college-level biology class, where I led a lab class all by myself and graded students' lab reports, papers and exams. I also was a biology tutor for my college, mainly assisting students with Ecology.
I love interacting with kids as well! My dream is to teach in a bilingual school because I believe immersion is the best way for students to learn languages as well as different cultures in the world!
