Elementary Math
I currently tutor a few students in high school Math, and it's going well, so the concepts of Elementary Math are familiar to me. I understand the patience it often takes to work with younger students, but I also know about the energy and humor that is always needed to keep them involved and doing their best. I am also able to quickly assess problem areas and guide the tutoring towards correcting those. The pencil stays in the student's hand for the most part. I'm guiding and coaching, not doing the work for them. And there's no reason why it can't be kind of fun as well.
English
I love the English language -- speaking, reading and writing. Combine that with my love of teaching, and I am excited to tutor those who may need a little extra boost when it comes to English.
GMAT
GMAT is my thing! I taught GMAT for Kaplan for many years, and now tutor individual students. I have a great understanding of the test, of the things the test makers throw at you, and of the best way to prepare you to defeat them. And defeat them you will! Let me help you!
Grammar
I speak well and I write well, and bad grammar to me is like nails on a chalkboard. So let me help you to make sure you sound and write as intelligently (and unabrasively) as possible!
ISEE
I have been an SAT tutor, both independently and for Kaplan, for over 5 years. Recently, in response to increased demand for ISEE and SHSAT tutors, I studied those two tests, and how to teach them. Reading Comprehension, Essay Writing, and Math are common to these high school admissions tests and the SAT. Sentence completions, verbal analogies and synonyms are tested on one or both of these earlier tests, but not oi the current version of the SAT. However, these question types WERE part of the SAT when I first started teaching, so I know all about them, and how to teach them.
Basically, I tutor students taking the more difficult tests that occur after the SHSAT and ISEE chronologcally. The material on the SHSAT and ISEE is not as complex as that of the ACT and SAT, but the procedures and "tricks" and strategies are universal, and, therefore, I can teach them!
Logic
I graduated from Harvard, worked as a Supply Officer in the US Navy, and currently tutor SAT and GMAT. None of these are able to be accomplished without a strong foundation in logic. The SAT and GMAT test it directly, in fact. It is only logical to go to the next step and tutor Logic as a subject!
Microsoft Windows
I have been a computer tutor since college. Additionally, I have used Microsoft Windows in my personal life and in my professional life for the past 20 years, most recently as an administrative assistant in Manhattan offices. I am a great asset in this field because of my knowledge and real-time experience.
Phonics
As an actor, I understand the importance of proper speech. As a singer, I am well-versed in the workings of the human mouth and throat and how to make these proper sounds. I have studied Spanish and Japanese, and founded a speech club in my high school. Phonics are the basics of proper speech, and I have been deeply involved with speech my whole life. That experience matched with my talent for teaching make me a great Phonics tutor
PSAT
Back in the day, my high PSAT score led to scholarships and honors for me, setting me on a course for Harvard University. I know how to help young students to achieve their best scores on the test, and find it rewarding trying to set them on a similar course. Let me help you!
Public Speaking
I'm a working actor and event host. I founded a Speech Club in high school, and have been involved in public speaking an acting ever since. I understand the fear that people have, and can help them to overcome some of it, and work with most of it.
Reading
I have a lifelong love of reading that I love to share with young students. I can help them to relish the stuff they read about that's interesting, and still get meaning and value from the the stuff that's not so exciting for them. This will serve them well on standardized tests, in school and in life!
SAT Math
I've been teaching SAT on and off for over a decade. I have adapted as the test has adapted, and I know I can help students to do their best. It's a daunting test, but it doesn't need to be. Let me help you tame the SAT beast!

Spelling
I'm that guy that notices misspellings on signs and in menus and everywhere they exist. Annoying in person, maybe, but great when you need a Spelling Tutor!
Study Skills
I tutor one of my current students in Study Skill, among other things. I'm an organized guy, who always got good grades. I have gotten my student to become way more organized, using old and new methods, and I've seen his grades increase in a short time. Studying and review are easier because of his newfound organization. Organization is the first study skill that I work on, and then we proceed from there, depending on the student's needs.
Theatre
I'm a musical theater actor and singer. I appeared in the last national tour of the musical RENT. I have done many regional theater productions, as well as performed for Disney in their theme parks in Florida, Tokyo and Hong Kong, among many other theatrical credits too numerous to list here. I'm also an academic tutor. Need one in the area of theater? Who better? You get the benefits of both sides of my brain.
Vocabulary
I'm a lover of reading and of words, and Of words used properly. My experience tutoring SAT and GMAT test prep has utilized this love of words quite often, and I'd like to continue sharing it with those who might struggle with big words.

Writing
I've successfully written things as long as a Harvard honors thesis and as short as this blurb. I am good at it, and know how to help others to express themselves well in writing.
