Hello! I am an experienced tutor with a genuine passion for helping kids learn and grow as students. I have over three years of experience with one-on-one tutoring of math, science, and SAT prep from grades K-12.
My personal expertise is in biomedical research. I graduated with honors in chemical biology in 2008 from UC Berkeley. Currently, I am working on a PhD at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and have completed masters level work in pharmacology. In addition to private tutoring, I also have experience assistance teaching in our chemical biology graduate level course.
My philosophy for working with students is a very interactive, hands-on approach. I genuinely believe that all students have the potential to succeed, provided they have the proper instruction. In my experience, especially in math, many students fail because they become overwhelmed and simply stop trying. One-on-one tutoring can give students the tools they need to tackle these problems. When teaching, I not only instruct on the individual subject, but also attempt to instill students with the practical skills and strategies to solve any academic problem.
Overall, I am a positive, enthusiastic person with a true passion for learning, especially in practical subjects such as math and science. I look forward to meeting with you and hopefully to pass on my enthusiasm for these subjects to your students!
