My name is Raj, and thanks for visiting my profile.
When it comes to tutoring, one thing to keep in mind is that only a student ever truly understands the predicaments of another. I'm a Ph.D. student at Cornell University, and over the years my academic path has not only facilitated a deep understanding of the basic sciences (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) but has also helped me realize the pitfalls experienced by high school and undergraduate students when it comes to these subjects. With this knowledge I have been able to quickly identify the root of the problem when a student has trouble understanding a concept and have helped them overcome it.
While patience is a hallmark of my teaching method, I also feel that a unless one possesses a deep understanding of a subject it is impossible to explain it to someone in a simple and elegant manner. My background is in Biology (B.S. in Neuroscience from Washington State University, B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Delhi in India and Graduate focus in Immunology at Weill Cornell School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences). However, my recent preparation for the Medical College Admission Test allowed me to re-focus on Physics and Chemistry as well. My proficiency in standardized tests has allowed me to be an effective tutor for tests like the MCAT, SAT and the GRE, and with a fair amount of teaching experience at the Undergraduate level I am a confident that I would be the ideal tutor for your needs.
In many ways I have a unique perspective on education as I have been through the high school experience of a foreign country (India) and the undergraduate and graduate experience of the United States. I have learned that while the style of teaching varies between teachers and institutions, the essence of science and math in itself is the biggest bridging component ,and a person who is good with people, is flexible in his approach, understands what he is talking about and is genuinely interested in the student's success will be a great teacher.
I hope that you find my desire to help and excellent credentials impressive enough for your tutoring needs. If you have any questions and would like to setup a meeting, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
