Hello! Thanks for taking a look at my profile. I'd like to give you some background information about myself, my training and why I may be a good match for your tutoring needs.
I am a summa cum laude graduate of New York University, with a double major in Italian Language and Literature and Music Performance. My teaching experience includes private tutoring, elementary school teaching (as a band teacher), tutoring in schools and small group teaching. All of these varied experiences have allowed me to fine-tune my teaching methods, approach and problem-solving skills. I am dedicated to making sure each student improves, meets his or her goals and succeeds, and I tailor each lesson to the student's specific needs, interests and goals.
ITALIAN: I specialize in teaching beginning Italian for adults, and I would be delighted to introduce you to this beautiful language - let's jump in! Whether you're looking to learn Italian for fun, travel or business, my clear explanations, engaging activities and thorough teaching will leave you speaking Italian in no time...allora, andiamo! (So, let's go!) I also love teaching children!
MUSIC: I teach flute, piano and general music. I teach children and adults, and I especially enjoy teaching adults (their enthusiasm and dedication is inspiring!). I am also an AmSAT-certified Alexander Technique teacher, having completed a three-year, 1600-hour training program. The Alexander Technique is a method for freedom of movement - this is essential for playing an instrument well - so my lessons often incorporate physical suggestions for playing more efficiently, as well as hands-on manual instruction to create increased awareness on the part of the student. I also teach the Alexander Technique privately, which can be a wonderful complement to private music lessons.
QUESTIONS? Don't hesitate to ask! I love to hear from you, and would be happy to answer any and all questions you may have.
