Eytan’s qualifications in specific subjects below.
Algebra 1
I was on the math team in high school. I recently have taken calculus and physics, both of which use lots of algebra, including algebra 1. I have been teaching/tutoring for years. I have a proven track record of being good at breaking down tough, complicated concepts into simple, easy-to-understand ideas.
Anatomy
Anatomy is a special subject to me - I love it. Although I tutor many subjects, anatomy is by far my favorite.
I aced anatomy and physiology, but that's not how I learned it.
I live anatomy every day. I have been a personal trainer for many years. It's my job to know anatomy. But it's also my job to apply that knowledge on a daily basis.
In addition, I have been teaching anatomy to personal trainers for years. I also tutored students (non-trainers) in anatomy and physiology.
I love to teach, and my specialty is breaking down tough concept into simple, bite-sized ideas that you can easily digest.
I'm confident I can help you with anatomy, just as I've helped many others.
Biology
I have been tutoring biology since 2009, when I took biology 1 and biology 2. I have helped many students pass or even excel in their bio classes.
More recently, I have also taken genetics, cellular and molecular bio, and biochemistry, all of which have reinforced my knowledge of the introductory biology courses. These extra courses gave me a deeper understanding of biology which translated directly to making me a better tutor. Not only did I benefit, but my students did, too.
I have helped many students gain a better understanding of the complexities of biological systems. My specialty lies in breaking down difficult concepts into simple, easy-to-understand ideas. I can help you make sense of the crazy stuff, be it glycolysis, photosynthesis, evolution, Hardy-Weinberg problems, or the digestive system of a grasshopper!
Chemistry
I've been tutoring chemistry and leading workshops for the past few years. Students have told me that I'm good at breaking down complicated ideas so they can understand them more easily. I like to use examples and metaphors from outside chemistry in order to make the chemistry more clear.
Ear Training
I play piano, I've had my own band and been in other bands for more than 20 years. I've written songs that have won awards. I've taken several music theory classes.
Elementary (K-6th)
I have been teaching or tutoring for years. I have worked with elementary students, teaching various subjects including reading and math, and even P.E. I've taught after-school classes in various subjects. I'm certified on this website in elementary math, elementary science, pre-algebra, reading, writing, and other subjects that apply to elementary education. I'm confident I can help your elementary child succeed in his or her classes.
Elementary Math
I have tutored elementary math in the past with great results. Students (and parents) have told me they like the fact that I'm patient, and that I have a good command of the material. I'm creative, and I try to make mathematics - which can be a very dry subject - come alive for kids, so they are more motivated to learn.
Fitness
I've been tutoring fitness for nearly 2 decades. I've taught fitness certification prep courses, both in one-on-one tutoring, and in the classroom. Not only have I helped others with fitness, I myself hold all of the top certifications in the fitness industry. So I won't be tutoring you on an exam I've never taken, or done well on.
Over the years, I've tutored hundreds of students, both aspiring personal trainers and people taking A&P. I'm confident I can help you as well.
Grammar
For two years, I was a full time writing tutor at my college's writing center. I love teaching writing. A huge part of that is teaching grammar. I realize that English is a very difficult language with a lot of grammatical rules that honestly don't make much sense. But with practice, grammar can be mastered. And I'm here to help with that.
Music Theory
I'm a musician (among other things). I studied music in college. I've been in many bands, including my own (although we've since broken up). I write songs and play piano, keyboard, and drums. I've won several international awards for my songs.
I can definitely help you with music theory. Let's get started!
Organic Chemistry
I received an A+ in organic chemistry 1 by the hardest professor in the college. I was hand-selected to lead her workshops. I also have tutored organic chemistry 1 and 2 for the past few years. All my students give me rave reviews for how much I helped them in this tough course. Even my organic chemistry professor (who has been teaching organic chemistry for several decades) adopted one of my teaching techniques and gave me credit during her class.
Physics
I recently underwent a pre-med program in which I aced physics 1 and physics 2, and I also have tutored students in physics. My specialty is breaking down tough concepts into simple, bite-sized ideas that are easy to digest and understand. In physics, this is particularly important. I'm confident I can help you succeed in physics.
Prealgebra
I've been tutoring pre-algebra for the past few years with good results. I've been told that I'm particularly good at explaining tough concepts like word problems. I love making math fun and accessible for students of all ages!
Study Skills
I have been tutoring study skills for the last several years. I usually incorporate it into a specific subject that I'm tutoring, such as organic chemistry or physics, but as part of a mentorship program, I helped several mentees specifically with study skills, such as time management, test taking skills, and general organization.
In my own life, I've had to develop serious study skills. I recently completed a pre-med post-bacc program that involved very difficult, time-consuming science classes. All the while, I was working full-time. Excellent time management and organizational skills were required here, and I developed some techniques that worked for me.
Different study skill techniques work for different people. I love sharing the techniques that I've developed for myself, and I look forward to collaborating with you to develop new ones that will work for you.
Writing
I can help you with writing. How do I know this?
First and most important: I've been tutoring writing for many years with great success. In fact, for two years I tutored writing full-time.
Second: I love writing, and it's easy to teach something you have a passion for (and no, I'm not going to say "something for which I have a passion," because it just sounds awful).
Third: I have had 15 letters published in a major city newspaper.
Fourth: I always received A's on my writing assignments in high school and college.
I've helped others, so I'm sure I can help you too. Let's get started!
