I am an experienced high school and middle school tutor with a Masters degree (and dual teaching certification) in English Ed and Theater Ed. Prior to grad school, I spent a year-and-a-half as a full-time tutor with a company called C2 Education. I tutor English and English-related topics (reading comprehension, college essay-writing, SAT verbal and writing, etc.), some History and social studies (specifically if you need schoolwork help, in which case bring the textbook you are using and let me know the specific topic ahead of time so I can prepare). I also offer test-prep (SAT 1 and 2, regents, HESPAS, PSATs, entrance exams - practically any test as long as it is English-related, or social studies if you have the study material), and theater (drama history, public speaking, play writing or analysis, acting, etc.).
I have experience tutoring ESL students, students with ADD/ADHD, and deeply reluctant readers (I have a special knack for those). I believe learning can and should be an enjoyable experience, and I do my best to make it so. I will expect hard work from my students (don't expect me to just do your assignment for you), but I promise I don't give busy-work, and I try to make your education fun and meaningful.
I prefer to tutor in my own home or else in a public place we can mutually agree upon, but sometimes I may tutor at students' homes.
