My name is Sameer. I recently graduated from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter. Among my numerous distinctions, I am the valedictorian of the graduating class of 2012 at Hunter College, which included over 2000 students. During my undergraduate I majored in Biochemistry and Political Science while maintaining a 4.0. Along the way, I have mastered material in Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry.

I have performed extensive research in a Chemistry laboratory at Hunter College and for the past year I have been working in a Cell Biology laboratory at Weill Cornell Medical College. I have a 35S on my MCAT, which is a 95th percentile score and I will be attending medical school next year.

Throughout college, I enjoyed tutoring students and helping them understand difficult concepts by relating material to applications in reality. I believe this method is one of the most efficient ways to teach students. In my junior year, I served as an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant and held office hours every single week for up to 25 students at a time. My office hours were among the most popular. A number of students can attest to my talent for isolating a particular problem that is troubling a student and helping them solve it and learn the information to tackle similar problems. Elementary (K-6th)

I worked as an after school program instructor at P.S. 11 for two years. During this time, I developed essential skills in how to communicate with students in K-6th grade. Moreover, my familiarity with helping students understand basic reading conventions and math concepts helped many students in my section improve in class according to their teachers.

Study Skills

I graduated as the valedictorian of my class at Hunter College, which included almost 2000 students. In this process, I learned to discern between the best ways to use my time to learn material efficiently. This is a skill I am confident that I can also further develop in others.

MCAT

Exam that covers four subjects in the sciences and verbal reasoning. Required for entrance into medical school. I have scored a 95th percentile score on the exam and thus, I am very well prepared to teach for it.
