Hello! I'm Audrey. I've recently moved to New York to pursue my MA in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia. I just moved back to the USA from Japan, where I taught English for more than 6 years. While I was in Japan, I taught children and adults of all levels. I have taught in classrooms, small groups, and private lessons. After the earthquake, I had opportunities to work with children from Fukushima in an after-school program.

As your teacher, I can create lesson plans from books you choose, or I can provide lessons using material from my shelves. I've helped students prepare for exams, improve their business English, and feel confident in daily conversation. We will work at your pace; feel free to make requests at any time! =)

Vocabulary

For three years, I taught 7th grade English. I experimented with different ways to teach vocabulary. Based on my experience and training, I developed games and activities to help my students learn, remember, and use new words. I also encouraged my students to use a vocabulary notebook.

I majored in English, am earning my MA in English Education, and taught English for more than 6 years.

ESL/ESOL

I taught English in Japan for 6 years. My students were from all levels and age groups. I taught business English and casual conversation. I participated in a selective advanced teacher training program for 6 months.

Japanese

I lived in Japan for 6 and a half years. I minored in Japanese and have passed level N3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. I am happy to help any beginners improve their Japanese. I also have experience teaching Japanese children English.

Proofreading

As an English major in college, my classmates asked me to proofread their papers. After college, I often checked the work of our Polish administrative assistant, who was writing in her second language. Later, when I worked at a junior and senior high, one of my responsibilities was to check the writing from students of all grades and classes.

Public Speaking

I judged three 8th grade speech contests and a city-wide high school speech contest. I prepared my school's participants in a national speech contest; several students received awards and my school received an Outstanding School award in 2009.

You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
